RTS Enhances Subsea Connectivity for Cube Systems with Subnero Smart Modems

Singapore, 7 March 2026 — RTS – Rental Technology & Services, a premier global supplier of subsea measurement solutions, and Subnero today announced the successful integration of Subnero’s M25M acoustic smart modems into the RTS Cube system. This collaboration significantly enhances real-time underwater communication and operational flexibility between subsea structures and topside assets.

For over a decade, RTS Cube systems have provided operators with critical real-time deflection, tilt, and attitude data from underwater structures. As parts of the hardware approached end-of-life, RTS sought to enhance the platform’s performance and future readiness. Seeking a more robust acoustic communication partner, RTS conducted rigorous testing of Subnero’s M25M modems, built on the highly flexible UnetStack software-defined networking framework.

“We did a thorough test before integrating the new Subnero modems into our Cube systems,” said Ivar Ersland, Development Manager at RTS. “The results showed significantly greater range and higher data rates compared to our existing solutions. In addition, the expanded functionality of the Subnero modems strengthens RTS’s ability to deliver customized sensor packages for deployment in remote locations.”

Thanks to close collaboration between RTS and Subnero, the integration and testing phases were completed efficiently, leading to smooth operational validation. Multiple offshore deployments have been successfully completed to date. This transition has verified the modems as a robust and reliable solution, ultimately reducing operational turnaround time while improving the flexibility, safety, and long-term maintainability of the Cube systems.
